27.11 - Work And Intellectual Culture

Because Céline and the parents of Paul Adrien, a college friend of Martin, were sick today, Anthony had to drive the boys to school even though it wasn't his turn. I had to prepare the girls for school this morning. For having been out late yesterday it was a bit heavy for me to get up around 7 am. Anthony warned me that Alice had got up really moody this morning and he were right. She had her usual morningcrise and didn't want to do anything as I wanted her to, having breakfast and getting dressed. But finally I managed to get both girls to school in time.

When I got back home, I went back to sleep. I usually never do anything like that but today I really felt I needed more sleep. I finally got up at 10.20. Céline was also at home. The whole morning she was mostly in her bedroom but she joined us for lunch and later in the afternoon. I still took care of the children as usual.

For lunch we had Cordon Bleu, which is turkey with ham and cheese inside. It's delicious but has actually nothing to do with the colour blue. The girls and I made games and later we still had coquilles de noël (sugary bread) for dessert.

The afternoon I studiously did some french excercises and did the cleaning in the childrens rooms. While working I enjoyed some finnish chocolate, that my grandparents have sent me.

Céline felt a bit better in the afternoon and wanted to profit from the children while being a few days at home, so she went to get Martin and the girls from school. They went all together to the bakery after school to buy some goûter, meanwhile I studied a bit and finished the cleaning in the upper floor.

I played with the girls when they came home. We read a christmas puzzle book, which contains stories and puzzles on each opening. It was very nice! Afterwards I did the homework with Clé while Alice took her bath. We did a lot of English with Clé and I made short pantomim stories in the bathroom to make her remember the words. The children have been adorlable this afternoon.

For dinner we had salmon, couscous and vegetables. We had a very nice moment together but straight after dinner I had to rush cause I was going to meet up with Sofia for a concert.

Sofia had invited me to join her for a concert tonight. She had got some free tickets for a symphonical concert, La Poème Harmonique, tonight and we just thaught to go and give it a try. Even though the music might wasn't really our style, we took it as a new cultural experience. It was supposed to be mixed with a bit comedy so we couldn't really expect what the outcome would be.

I picked up Sofia by car and then we went to the Théâtre Charcot in Marcq en Baroel, where the concert was held. We found surprisingly well but our parking was really french. At the entrance Sofia just said the name of the company her host mum is working in and then we got two free tickets.
The music was mainly classical but with interesting instruments and with the element of comedy it was really fun. The point was that there was an orchestra playing music and training and a background worker, a comedian, just wanted them to stop playing cause it was already late and he wanted to finish all the cleaning and go home. The outcome was a lot of fun.

I didn't come home too late, just after 22, but then I still had an evening snack and wrote a bit before going to bed. Tomorrow is still Friday. ☺️
